Travellers now solely use the Coquihalla Highway, skipping the closure. The fire near Hope is burning northeast of the Coquihalla interchange, releasing thick smoke. Smoke is thick and easy to see, lowering visibility. A second blaze ignited south of Boston Bar on Tuesday. This second fire spans 300 hectares. It forced officials to close Highway 1 in the same area. Two key routes into southern BC are now closed.
