A 7.4 tremor hit Mexico’s Pacific coast shortly before 6 a.m. on Friday.
A wide tsunami alert was issued for coastal strips along Mexico and Guatemala shortly thereafter.
The ground remained restless, shaking towns further north into Guatemala and El Salvador too.
Just after 4 a.m., a 7.3 quake trembled the same area.
No accounts of harm or damaged buildings were received after the warnings.
