Stargazers can now spot the first Perseid meteors ahead of the main event. The light show peaks in middle of August next year. First glimpses will be tough, however. The bright moon now washes out subtle flashes. Head into darker hours near the high point. The best views come from dark sky spots far from urban glow. Clear nights could show up to a full hundred an hour at the height of activity.
