Former New Orleans Saints player Steve Gleason made his way back to the Superdome during Week 4 of the 2026 NFL season, marking 20 years since his iconic punt block. Gleason, who has lived with ALS for 15 years, met up again with former teammate Michael Koenen at the Rebirth statue as part of Domecoming celebrations.

The moment meant a great deal for fans and players alike, given how closely tied Gleason's story is to the city of New Orleans and the Saints franchise. The Rebirth statue, erected in his honor, served as the centerpiece for the reunion.

Gleason also took part in leading a second line during the festivities. The second line is a longstanding New Orleans tradition that has grown tied to his legacy with the city over the years. His appearance that day drew strong reactions from the crowd.
