Typhoon Uwan continues to strengthen quickly as it approaches the Philippines, sparking warnings of potential destruction from strong winds, torrential rain, and dangerous conditions.
Forecasters report that this weather system, initially called Fung-wong, has developed into a severe tropical storm moving toward the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). As of Friday, it was situated about 1,470 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, just outside PAR.
Weather experts predict the storm may reach its peak strength as it nears or makes landfall over Northern or Central Luzon on November 10, 2025. Authorities have already urged communities within its projected path to prepare early.
“Typhoon Uwan could become one of the most destructive storms of the year,” forecasters cautioned, emphasizing the risk of widespread damage and life-threatening impacts across Luzon.
Disaster management officials have signaled that early warnings will likely be issued by Saturday morning for parts of Eastern Luzon and the Visayas.
The rapidly intensifying Typhoon Uwan approaches the Philippines, raising alarms over dangerous winds, heavy rainfall, and potential landfall in Luzon next week.
