Gabagool & Pickleball: Soprano’s Star Joins CCARC Event

New Britain — The New Britain CCARC recently hosted a lively morning of pickleball, drawing over a dozen participants. The event took place at Club Pickleball inside the Meriden Mall and welcomed attendees of all ages with special needs.

The courts and equipment were generously provided by the club. The Center for Community Resources, located on Slater Road, focuses on supporting individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities across various ages and genders. This nonprofit is approaching its 80th year of service in the community.

Event Highlights

The Beautiful Lives Project director, Anthony Gionfriddo, organized the event. The participants eagerly took to the courts, showing bright smiles and enthusiasm for the sport, which has gained popularity nationwide in recent years.

Special Guest Appearance

A highlight for many attendees was the presence of Joseph R. Gannascoli, famously known as Vito from The Sopranos. Gannascoli served as a guest instructor, sharing his pickleball expertise on the court.

After the session, participants enjoyed a meet and greet with him, including photo opportunities and autograph signings.
