TV host Lorraine Kelly has shared her blunt opinion on the new John Lewis Christmas advert, expressing disappointment during her live ITV show this morning.
The ad, released today, features a father receiving a nostalgic gift from his teenage son — a vinyl record of Alison Limerick’s 1990s hit “Where Love Lives.” The commercial ends with the tagline: “If you can’t find the words, find the gift.”
While discussing the advert at the start of her show, Lorraine acknowledged the festive countdown but quickly questioned the tone and timing of the campaign.
“When are they going to do one that's just happy and lovely and celebratory, but there you go.”
Later in the program, she remarked that although the music added emotion, the overall mood lacked Christmas spirit.
“Wasn't very Christmassy, I have to say. I want jingle bells, I want Santa, I want Rudolph, I want noise, I want happiness. It’s a bit too soon. Get November 5th, Bonfire Night, out of the way first.”
Several viewers echoed her sentiment online, describing the ad as “boring” and “not very Christmassy.”
Lorraine Kelly criticized the new John Lewis Christmas advert for lacking festive cheer, joining viewers who found it emotional but not truly Christmassy.
