Man Utd Starlet Called Up to Australia’s Senior Team
Manchester United youngster James Overy has been selected for the Australia national team for this month's friendlies against Venezuela and Colombia. The Socceroos manager, Tony Popovic, has included 11 new players in his squad, with Overy continuing his rapid rise after impressive performances at the U20 World Cup.
Early Career and United Arrival
Overy, who turns 18 this weekend, joined Manchester United in the summer of 2024 on a scholarship before signing a professional contract in July. In May, Ruben Amorim invited him and several other young talents to first-team training ahead of a Premier League match against Chelsea.
Overcoming Injury
Shortly after joining the Red Devils, Overy suffered an eight-month injury layoff. He returned to action in February with the Under-18s, according to Manchester Evening News.
