'The Voice' Recap: The Knockouts Continue & First-Ever Mic Drop Is Used

Michael Bublé introduced the first Mic Drop as the coaches narrowed down their teams during the Knockout Rounds on Season 28 of The Voice, aired Monday, November 3.

In these rounds, coaches Reba McEntire, Niall Horan, Snoop Dogg, and Michael Bublé faced head-to-head battles where one contestant from their teams had to be eliminated after each performance. Without Saves or Steals available, every decision was final. However, each coach had one Mic Drop to grant an artist the chance to perform at the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day, with viewers voting for their favorite Mic Drop artist once selections were complete.

Performance Highlights

Team Snoop’s Toni Lorene and Natalia Albertini, whom Snoop saved in the Battle Rounds, competed first. Natalia performed “I Wish” by Stevie Wonder, and Toni sang “Lady Marmalade.”

“Natalia, your performance was spectacular, you’re gorgeous, I love your outfit,” McEntire praised. “I guess if I had to pick one, I think I’d go with Natalia.”

Horan called Toni a “machine” and commented, “The stuff you can do with your voice … there’s something special about you.” Both he and Bublé leaned towards choosing Toni.

Snoop shared his pride: “I am a proud uncle.”

Current Standings and Next Steps

The knockout battles continued with each coach making tough decisions to finalize their teams before the Playoffs. The chosen Mic Drop artists will soon compete for audience votes to secure their spot in the special New Year's Day performance.
