Brian Keeling of High River passed away at 93. He was a dedicated volunteer at the Museum of the Highwood, where his contributions left a lasting impact on the community.
Keeling began volunteering at the museum in 2011, committing to three mornings each week. Over time, he catalogued more than 29,000 items, a crucial task after the museum faced significant challenges.
Irene Kerr, the museum’s director and curator for 17 years and a close friend of Keeling’s, recalled difficult times.
“We went through a lot at the museum. We had a fire in 2010 and a flood in 2013.”
Because not all artifacts and photographs were backed up, Keeling’s meticulous cataloguing was essential to restoring the collection.
“Brian was a fixture at the museum,” said Kerr, reflecting on his steady presence and dedication.
His work and friendship enriched the museum and the wider community of High River.
Brian Keeling's devoted service profoundly aided the preservation and recovery of the Museum of the Highwood's collections.
