Cochrane May Host 2026 Ironman 70.3 Calgary
Cochrane could become the host of the 2026 Ironman 70.3 Calgary triathlon if the town council approves the proposal. Platinum Racing Events, the organizers of Ironman 70.3 Calgary, suggested relocating the event to Cochrane due to ongoing construction at Harmony Park.
Event Details
- The two-day triathlon is planned for July 25–26, 2026, with setup beginning July 24.
- This will be the 17th edition of the event.
- Approximately 1,100 athletes from up to 26 countries are expected to participate.
- There will also be more than 500 spectators and around 300 volunteers.
- About 40% of participants are anticipated to travel more than 300 kilometers to compete.
Last year’s event attracted athletes from 16 countries.
Race Course and Activities
If approved, the race will include:
- A 1.9-kilometre swim at Ghost Lake
- A 90-kilometre bike ride along rural roads north of Cochrane
- A 21.1-kilometre run along Cochrane’s pathway network and river corridor
- A relay option for teams of two or three people
Additional activities planned for July 24–25 include a Kids Fun Run, vendor booths, and athlete package pickup. The main race will take place on July 26.
The Historic Cochrane Ranche is proposed as the event headquarters.
