Trick-or-treaters had no trouble finding candy this Halloween on St. John. Visitors enjoyed plenty of treats at Mongoose Junction and the Trunk-or-Treat event held in the gravel lot in Cruz Bay.
Parents accompanied their children as they descended the main staircase at Mongoose Junction. There, Raven Phillips of Bajo El Sol distributed candy to the kids, including a young fan of Curious George named Finn and his mother, Willow Melamet.
Early arrivals before 5 p.m. were rewarded with free books from the Little Free Library. Jeannie Bishop handed out books while Phillips watched, and a young fisherman was drawn to the book display. Janet Cook-Rutnik, who helped distribute the books, dressed as one of her favorite Eric Carle characters.
Photographer Yelena Rogers and her dog posed for a photo as they left the area.
As evening approached and daylight faded, most children moved on to the Trunk-or-Treat event in the gravel lot. Adults created spooky scenes inside their car trunks to entertain the kids, including a notable display by Jennifer Costanzo and Tessa Chilson from Moms Who Trunk.
"Those who got to Mongoose before 5 p.m. received a gift of free books from the Little Free Library."
