City bar closes as owner focuses on 'bigger and better' site with range of beers

City Bar Closes as Owner Focuses on Larger Site

The original Blind Tiger bar in Peterborough's city centre will close near the end of December. Owner Neil Treliving plans to concentrate on a new, larger location offering a wider range of beers.

Closure Details and Reasoning

The popular Cowgate bar, run by Mr. Treliving, will shut its doors for the last time on Christmas Eve. Having opened a second venue in August, he found managing both difficult due to the distance between them.

He chose to focus on the Nene Park site, which is three times bigger than the city centre bar.

Unique Appeal of The Blind Tiger

The bar earned a reputation for being "completely different" in Peterborough. Mr. Treliving described it as a niche spot with a distinctive character.

"It's niche. I guess it's quite unique in the fact that the one we opened in town was completely different to anything that had been in Peterborough."
"We were getting people from all over the country coming in just to have these beers that no one else dared to do."

Memories and Reflections

Since opening in 2021, the city centre bar has been a source of many memorable moments for Mr. Treliving.

"There’s been a lot of great moments."

Looking Ahead

Despite the closure, the owner remains committed to serving craft beers worldwide at the new, larger location.

Author's summary: The Blind Tiger bar in Peterborough closes its city centre branch to focus on a larger site, continuing its unique craft beer offerings and local artistic vibe.
