SML urges President Mahama to reconsider contract termination

Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to reconsider his decision to cancel all agreements between the company, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

The company explained that it had presented a comprehensive response to the Presidency, including evidence challenging the findings from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), which described the SML-GRA contract as being compromised by illegality and corruption.

According to a letter signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, the President ordered the immediate termination of all contracts involving SML. The directive came after the OSP concluded its investigation, highlighting procurement violations, excessive contractual scope, and questioning the overall necessity of the deal.

“Earlier this afternoon, we delivered a comprehensive response to the President on his directive for the contract between the Ministry of Finance, GRA, and SML to be terminated, which hinged largely on the report of the OSP,” said Cephas Boyuo, one of SML’s lawyers, during a press briefing on Friday, November 7.

Boyuo emphasized that the company's submission included documentary proof refuting each allegation raised in the OSP report.
