Former WWE and NXT wrestler Ridge Holland, known off-stage as Luke Menzies, recently discussed the circumstances surrounding the unexpected end of his WWE contract.
Menzies was injured while competing in a TNA match during the summer. He later learned the injury would require surgery. Soon after, WWE informed him that his contract would not be renewed.
“I think I recovered for about a week. I got a complimentary stay at one of the resorts in Orlando for my family, because my mom had flown over to help with the kids because I was incapacitated after surgery. Then we got there the first day, that’s when I got the call. They said they weren’t going to renew my contract.”
Following the news, Menzies shared his frustration on social media, revealing fears about how he would support his family and pay his mortgage. WWE reportedly saw his comments as a breach of contract and decided to finalize his termination.
“[I thought] ‘OK, well I’m injured and I don’t know how I’m going to make a living.’”
Despite the setback, Menzies expressed gratitude for his overall WWE journey and has since launched a YouTube channel to share updates and personal reflections on his wrestling career.
Luke Menzies candidly recounts how injury, frustration, and unexpected decisions led to his WWE exit, while focusing on rebuilding through transparency and resilience.
