PENN Entertainment announced the conclusion of its partnership with ESPN’s sports betting platform, ESPN Bet, as detailed in the company's Q3 financial results. The termination is described as mutual and amicable.
“When we first announced our partnership with ESPN, both sides made it clear that we expected to compete for a podium position in the space,” said PENN CEO and President Jay Snowden. “Although we made significant progress in improving our product offering and building a cohesive ecosystem with ESPN, we have mutually and amicably agreed to wind down our collaboration.”
PENN will shift its digital focus in the U.S. and Canada toward theScore Bet. Online sports betting will remain available in states where it is legal, alongside a standalone iCasino app for states where sports betting is not permitted.
Currently, theScore Bet boasts approximately four million monthly active users across North America. PENN retains about 2.9 million digital users originally gained through its partnership with ESPN.
