Wicked: For Good introduces two original songs in addition to the music from the second act of the Broadway hit. These new tracks deepen the exploration of Elphaba and Glinda’s stories.
The second part of the movie musical, based on the latter half of the Broadway production, ends with Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) singing “Defying Gravity” after discovering that the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum) is a fraud alongside Glinda (Ariana Grande).
Director Jon M. Chu revealed that the film expands the story with fresh music. Erivo performs “No Place Like Home,” while Grande sings “The Girl in the Bubble.”
“Both witches are trying to find their way home,” Chu said in a September 2025 interview with Entertainment Weekly. “Both of these songs are about how to do that, and it’s questions that I’ve always wanted to hear from them in the stage show, but never got to. We get to take our time and explore those questions.”
Both new songs are composed by Stephen Schwartz, the original Broadway musical’s composer. Fans previewed these tunes during the Wicked: One Wonderful Night special on NBC before the November 2025 premiere of Wicked: For Good.
Wicked: For Good enriches the narrative with two newly written songs that reveal deeper emotional journeys for Elphaba and Glinda, adding fresh layers to the beloved story.
