Paramore vocalist Hayley Williams has unveiled the 20th and final track from her third solo album, Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party. The song, "Showbiz," features intriguing lyrics that hint at struggles beneath the spotlight.
On November 7th, Williams officially released this last single, completing the album's unique rollout. Prior to this, 17 tracks were shared individually for free on a dedicated website, followed by a more traditional album release strategy.
“May never happen again / Stings like sweat on broken skin / And it’s never enough / Tastes like the whole ocean / Exit stage left / What might be the end / Showbiz, showbiz.”
Williams does not explicitly clarify what "ending" the lyrics refer to, leaving room for interpretation.
Despite speculation that this album signals Paramore's breakup, Williams has reassured fans the band is only "on a break." In the penultimate single, “Good Ol’ Days,” she refers to herself as “Miss Paramore,” emphasizing the band's continuing significance in her life.
She recently admitted feeling unfairly "blamed for all the shit" that caused the band's multiple hiatuses. The new song's lyrics also allude to the end of her relationship with Paramore's guitarist.
Hayley Williams's final single "Showbiz" closes her album with layered lyrics about fame, personal struggles, and her ongoing connection to Paramore amid changes.
