Peloton Recalls Older Bike+ Seats
Owners of older Peloton Bike+ models must replace their seats, which have been recalled. Peloton is offering free replacement seats for affected units.
Affected Models and Recall Details
- Recall applies to Bike+ models manufactured between December 2019 and July 2022.
- Only U.S. models sold in this period are included.
- To check if your Bike+ is impacted, look for the PL02 model number on the label inside or behind the front fork, or behind the flywheel.
- The recall does not affect the newer Cross Training Bike+ released a few weeks ago.
Reason for Recall
The Bike+ seat post “can break during use, posing a potential fall and injury risk to consumers,” according to Peloton.
This issue is less severe than the previous recall for classic Bike models, which led to injuries.
Reported Incidents
- There have been three reports of seats breaking among approximately 833,000 U.S. units.
- No incidents have been reported among nearly 45,000 units in Canada.
What to Do
- If you have an affected Bike+, contact Peloton to request a free replacement seat.
- To receive a new seat, visit Peloton’s website or call customer service at (833) 821-0099.
Summary
Peloton is proactively recalling seat posts on older Bike+ models due to breakage risks, offering free replacements for all eligible U.S. customers.
