Alex Vesia did not play in the 2025 World Series as the Dodgers faced the Toronto Blue Jays. The Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher took a leave of absence during the series for a “personal matter” involving his family.
“It is with a heavy heart that we share that Alex Vesia is away from the team as he and his wife, Kayla, navigate a deeply personal family matter,” the Dodgers stated.
“The entire Dodgers organization is sending our thoughts to the Vesia family, and we will provide an update at a later date.”
Although the Blue Jays did not win the series, they honored Alex by wearing his number, 51, on their caps during game 6. This gesture showed solidarity with Vesia during his hiatus.
