The Canada postal strike has escalated as rotating strikes by Canada Post workers persist in multiple provinces, impacting mail and parcel delivery during the crucial holiday season.
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), representing over 50,000 employees such as letter carriers, mail handlers, and plant workers, initiated these rotating strikes earlier this month after lengthy unsuccessful contract talks with Canada Post.
“We’ve been patient for too long,” said CUPW national president Jan Simpson. “Our members deserve fair pay, safe working conditions, and respect for the critical public service they provide.”
The strike has disrupted mail services in several provinces, including Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, and Alberta.
The ongoing labor action complicates operations for Canada Post as demand surges ahead of the holiday rush, placing significant strain on timely deliveries.
