Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo invite fans back to the world of Oz for the premiere of Wicked: One Wonderful Night, a special musical event airing Thursday evening. The two-hour broadcast will be shown on NBC and streamed live via DirecTV, with streaming access available later on Peacock.
The broadcast brings new life to iconic numbers from the beloved musical, including audience favorites and glimpses of upcoming songs from the next film. Viewers can expect spectacular performances, sweeping stage productions, and fresh interpretations of familiar melodies.
“I am absolutely delighted to let you in on a centerpiece of our campaign for the second film, and it’s something that’s never been done in the 22-year history of ‘Wicked,’” said director Jon M. Chu during NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation at Radio City Music Hall.
The event marks the first time songs from the celebrated Broadway hit have been adapted into a prime-time network format, offering fans a unique celebration of the musical universe of Wicked.
