Previously an artisanal macaroni and cheese restaurant, the space at 1111 Main St. now hosts Streats, a Kansas City Mexican eatery transitioning from a ghost kitchen to its first physical location.
Streats is known for its street tacos, birria tacos, and ramen, and has opened inside a high-rise building that is part of the Skyline Collection, a pair of office towers housing eateries like Jason’s Deli, Banksia, and Fat Bee Cafe.
“We’re thrilled to bring Streats to the Skyline Collection,” said founders Ashton Shelby and Tony Gordon. “We love being part of the fabric of Kansas City, and we’re excited to expand into downtown to serve the business community and visitors alike with the bold flavors we’re known for.”
Before this opening, Streats operated from the Crossroads Food Stop ghost kitchen, which closed in summer. The previous occupant of the current site, KC Mac ‘N Co., an artisanal mac and cheese restaurant, moved from the Parlor food hall in 2021 but has been closed for several months with no signs of reopening elsewhere.
Streats now positions itself as a downtown destination offering authentic Mexican flavors to Kansas City’s business and visitor community.
Author's summary: Streats, a popular Mexican ghost kitchen, has launched its first downtown Kansas City location, bringing its signature birria tacos and ramen to the Skyline Collection building.
