The Clemson Tigers opened their season with a commanding 88-38 win over the New Hampshire Wildcats, marking an impressive start at 1-0.
Clemson's defense was exceptional, limiting New Hampshire to just one successful 3-point shot in the first half out of 18 attempts.
The Tigers distributed their scoring widely, with 10 players logging at least 15 minutes. Despite scoring 43 points in the first half with nine players, no individual reached double digits during that period. Clemson's coach Brad Brownell frequently rotated his lineup early, pulling all five starters within the first five minutes.
This rotation continued in the second half, where six players scored between 7 and 11 points each. Ultimately, all players who appeared on the court scored except freshman Chase Thompson. Twelve players saw action for Clemson, which is uncommon for a Brownell-coached team.
“I think you see that a lot of guys can contribute,” Brownell said. “I thought our starters did some really good things establishing the tone and the way we were gonna play.”
Redshirt freshman Ace Buckner led Clemson with 18 points in 20 minutes on the floor.
The 50-point win is the largest margin of victory in a season opener for head coach Brad Brownell.
Clemson demonstrated a deep, balanced team effort and strong defense to dominate their season opener with a record-setting margin.
