Mike Smith, the Canadian actor famously known as Bubbles from the comedy series Trailer Park Boys, has been charged with sexual assault in Nova Scotia. The charges were officially filed in Nova Scotia provincial court on October 2, according to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).
The alleged assault reportedly took place in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, on December 30, 2017. Following the charges, Smith must not contact the alleged victim or approach their home, workplace, or school, as mandated by the court.
“We recognize how difficult an allegation of this nature is for all involved. Out of respect for the legal process, we will not comment further on the case.”
Trailer Park Boys Inc., the production company behind the show, confirmed that Smith has stepped down from his role as managing director during the legal proceedings.
Trailer Park Boys is a mockumentary-style comedy series that premiered in 2001 on Canada’s Showcase network. It gained international popularity after Netflix acquired it in 2014.
