Celebrity Chef Rick Stein Discusses His New Christmas Book
Famous TV chef and author Rick Stein will be visiting Morpeth Waterstones on Thursday, November 13, to sign copies of his latest work, Rick Stein’s Christmas. Caroline Dominey spoke with him about the book and what Christmas means to him personally.
Inspiration Behind the Book
Rick Stein shared that the idea for the Christmas book came from his wife, Sarah, who suggested it for years. Being Australian, she cherishes the festive season spent in the UK. Reflecting on recipes and Christmas memories made the project an obvious choice for Stein.
“I think we all love Christmas in our heart, it’s something that matters to us in this slightly rainy island and it was a joy to do.”
What Makes Christmas Special for Rick Stein
Stein highlighted the traditional Christmas dishes such as turkey and glazed ham, along with seasonal treats like chutneys, jams, and mulled wines. He also expressed his fondness for Christmas songs and carols, which feature prominently in the book.
“There is a whole piece in the book about Christmas No 1’s! And I’ve always loved carols and carol services.”
