Pete Davidson made an unexpected appearance on Saturday Night Live on November 8, sharing personal updates and career news since his last appearance two years ago.
Davidson greeted Colin Jost with a warm compliment: “Colin, you’re looking as great as ever,” and humorously noted cohost Michael Che “was starting to crack.” Dressed casually in a gray graphic T-shirt and a leather bomber jacket, Davidson joined the anchor desk to address rumors surrounding his Staten Island Ferry project.
Davidson and Colin Jost bought a decommissioned Staten Island Ferry in 2022 with hopes of converting it into an entertainment venue. Davidson joked about the financial challenges involved.
“In case you’re wondering why I had to do a show in Saudi Arabia, we’re losing millions on this ferry,” Davidson said. “I assume that’s what the [New York Times] article says. I can’t spend $5 on a paywall when I got a kid on the way.”
Davidson’s girlfriend, Elsie Hewitt, announced this summer that they are expecting their first child. Davidson expressed excitement about becoming a father and a fresh perspective on his work.
“Hell yeah, I’m just excited to be a dad and give it all the energy and enthusiasm I never had for this show,” he shared. He left SNL in 2022 after eight years on the cast.
Colin Jost added with humor that fatherhood beats owning a ferry.
Pete Davidson’s surprise SNL comeback offered candid updates on losing money renovating a ferry and his excitement about upcoming fatherhood.
