Pakistan triumphed over Kuwait by 43 runs in the final of the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 cricket tournament, held at the Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok on Sunday.
Pakistan’s Abdul Samad smashed a 13-ball 42 against Kuwait in the final.
Batting first, Pakistan posted a formidable total of 135 for three in six overs. Opener Abdul Samad contributed a rapid 42 from 13 balls, while captain Abbas Afridi powered to 52 off just 11 deliveries.
In response, Kuwait managed only 92 runs in 5.1 overs, as left-arm spinner Maaz Sadaqat took three wickets to seal Pakistan’s victory.
Pakistan began its campaign with a four-wicket win over Kuwait. The team then faced a narrow defeat against India by two runs via the DLS method. Recovering quickly, Pakistan defeated South Africa by five wickets in the quarterfinal and edged past Australia by one run in the semifinal.
This triumph marked Pakistan’s sixth title at the Hong Kong Sixes competition, reinforcing its dominance in the format.
Despite the loss, Kuwait had a strong tournament performance, defeating India, Afghanistan, and England to reach the final.
India’s campaign started with a two-run victory over Pakistan but quickly declined, as the team lost subsequent matches to Kuwait, the UAE, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.
Pakistan showcased explosive batting and sharp bowling to clinch its sixth Hong Kong Sixes title, overcoming early setbacks and sealing a commanding win over Kuwait in the 2025 final.
