The first Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) classification meeting for the 2026–2028 cycle took place on Thursday. The session was brief, focusing mainly on schools appealing to move up or down in class levels, yet several key points emerged.
Five schools—Peabody, Vandebilt Catholic, Anacoco, Pickering, and Plainview—submitted appeals regarding their classifications. None of the Baton Rouge–area schools filed appeals this time.
“We have a target date, no later than Monday morning, to have that out to membership,” said Michael Federico, the LHSAA’s assistant executive director.
Federico noted that the LHSAA staff will meet Friday morning to start organizing districts for the upcoming classification cycle.
The LHSAA’s first meeting set the stage for Baton Rouge–area school reclassifications, marking small shifts before full district assignments are released on Monday.
