Residents are encouraged to join the traditional Remembrance services across the borough to honor the sacrifice of our armed forces, both past and present. Remembrance Sunday will take place on 9 November, featuring key events in Southall, Greenford, and Ealing.
The largest event is held in Ealing, where the mayor, Councillor Anthony Kelly, will participate in a parade and ceremony at the Ealing War Memorial on Ealing Green, near Pitzhanger Manor. A two-minute silence will be observed at 11:00 am.
The King’s representative, Deputy Lieutenant Richard Kornicki, and council leader Peter Mason will also attend the Ealing service.
In Greenford, the local branch of the Royal British Legion will march from its headquarters in Oldfield Lane South to the Greenford War Memorial for a public service starting at 11:00 am.
At 10:45 am, people will gather at the Southall War Memorial on The Green for the Remembrance Service, which includes a two-minute silence at 11:00 am. Attendees are then invited to St John’s Church on Church Avenue for a short ceremony and refreshments.
