Toyota’s best-selling ute was leaked online just hours before its official unveiling, showing a drastically updated design for the new generation.
Photos posted on Instagram by bfmsoficial, originally from a video published by Auto Societies before embargo and then removed, revealed the refreshed HiLux. The update includes:
“The HiLux gets a heavy update with a new face and a more rugged rear end, signaling a bold new look for the popular ute.”
Multiple versions were spotted, including the ‘Prerunner,’ ‘Overland,’ ‘4Trex,’ and a possible electric model called the ‘Travo-e.’
Except for the electric variant, all models feature a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, likely the same ‘1GD-FTV’ previously seen in the Australian HiLux range.
Australian government approval documents have confirmed the continued use of the 2.8-litre engine for most variants.
