Chargers' Jim Harbaugh Leaves Trevor Penning's Status Unclear For Steelers Game

The Chargers acquired Trevor Penning through a trade to strengthen their offensive line before facing the Steelers. However, it is still uncertain if Penning will play in Sunday night's game.

Despite managing to win several games, the Chargers have dealt with significant injuries, including losing both of their starting offensive tackles. Rashawn Slater has been out for some time, and Joe Alt recently sustained an injury that placed him on injured reserve.

Trevor Penning's Role and Readiness

The Chargers brought in Penning, a versatile player capable of covering multiple positions on the line. Yet, it remains too early to determine if he will be ready to suit up for the Steelers game.

"Trevor Penning’s status for the Steelers game is 'to be determined'. We are excited to get him on the field and see what we have in him," said head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Harbaugh sees promising traits in Penning and commented on the qualities he brings.

"I feel like we’ve got good players. Enough good, tough players, which we liked about him. Finishes, played a lot of football. I think he’s kind of like what we like. Love the versatility, but also the ability to play tackle. This week of practice will be for figuring out exactly where Trevor fits in best."

The Chargers remain hopeful that Penning can help fill gaps caused by injuries in their offensive line.
