Residents have been advised to boil their water for at least three minutes before using it for drinking, cooking, or brushing their teeth. The notice warns that untreated water could contain viruses, bacteria, and parasites leading to nausea, diarrhea, or other health problems.
Although the advisory sounds alarming, IVGID emphasized it is a preventive measure. As of now, there is no direct evidence that contaminants have entered the system.
Meanwhile, it would not be surprising if local stores see a surge in bottled water sales as residents take extra precautions.
