High Lander and Thai Partners Launch National Drone Delivery Pilot in Bangkok
Thailand has taken a significant step toward creating a national drone infrastructure by launching a large-scale drone delivery pilot in Bangkok. This initiative was led by Thailand’s National Telecom Public Company Limited (NT), the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), and High Lander Aviation, a global provider of unmanned traffic management (UTM) systems.
The New Era of Drone Delivery Event
The event, named “The New Era of Drone Delivery,” showcased aerial deliveries across Bangkok. It highlighted the collaboration between NT and High Lander Aviation, demonstrating how coordinated UTM technology can safely manage drone operations in complex urban environments.
Technological Integration and Capabilities
High Lander’s Vega UTM platform was integrated with NT’s advanced 5G network, delivering real-time flight visibility, coordination, and safety assurance for all drones involved. This system allowed operators to:
- Monitor live telemetry data
- Receive flight authorizations
- Autonomously avoid conflicts in airspace
Successful Demonstrations
During the event, dozens of drone deliveries were completed, transporting various items such as medical supplies, agricultural products, and consumer goods.
“CAAT’s role is to regulate aviation safety and promote the advancement of the aviation industry. Supporting innovation and technological development in unmanned aircraft and related systems is a key part of our mission,” said Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, Director General of the CAAT.
The pilot program marks a key advancement in Thailand’s adoption of drone technology for practical urban applications.
