Residents of Incline Village, one of California's wealthiest and most scenic communities on Lake Tahoe, have been issued a boil water advisory due to potential fecal contamination in the local water supply. This community includes several Silicon Valley billionaires.
The public notice, released on Monday, explains that the water system experienced a loss of pressure. This event may have caused backpressure, backsiphonage, or water movement from outside the pipes into the drinking water through existing cracks, breaks, or joints common in distribution systems.
“Such a system failure carries with it a high potential that fecal contamination or other disease-causing organisms could enter the distribution system. These conditions may pose an imminent and substantial health endangerment to persons served by the system.”
The message strongly urges residents not to consume the water without boiling it first to ensure safety.
Residents are advised to remain vigilant and adhere strictly to the boil water warning until the issue is resolved.
The Incline Village water system faces a serious contamination risk, prompting officials to urgently warn residents, including tech elites, to boil water before drinking to prevent health hazards.
