Dharmendra married Prakash Kaur in 1954, at the age of 19. Together they have four children: actors Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, and their daughters Ajita Deol and Vijeta Deol.
Ajita, the eldest daughter, chose a private life away from the film industry. She currently works as a psychology teacher in the United States and is married to Indian-American dentist Kiran Chaudhary. They have two daughters, Nikita and Priyanka.
