A new Disney+ documentary, Caroline Flack: Search For The Truth, explores the final days of the late TV presenter Caroline Flack. The film includes previously unseen footage of Flack breaking down as she recounted the abuse she suffered following her arrest and job loss.
Caroline Flack, who tragically took her own life at 40 in February 2020, was best known as the host of Love Island. She also won Strictly Come Dancing in 2014 and presented shows like The X Factor and I'm A Celebrity ... Now!
In December 2019, Flack was arrested over an alleged assault on her boyfriend, Lewis Burton. Initially, she received a caution, but after an appeal by the Metropolitan Police, the caution was overturned and she was formally charged with assault by beating.
"Flack was charged following an incident where she hit Lewis Burton with her phone while he slept, amid concerns he had been cheating on her," said the documentary.
The documentary was made in two parts, where Flack's mother, Christine Flack, investigates the assault charge and its impact on Caroline's life amid intense media scrutiny.
"In August 2020, a coroner ruled that Caroline Flack took her own life after learning prosecutors intended to proceed with the assault charge," the film details.
The documentary reveals the profound challenges Caroline Flack faced after her arrest, highlighting the devastating impact of media scrutiny on her life and mental health.
