The University of York has partnered with Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba to create a technology innovation hub at the university's campus in the north of England.
The new hub, which will be named the 'York Alibaba Innovation Hub', aims to bring together entrepreneurs, academics, and industry experts to drive innovation and entrepreneurship in the region.
Speaking at the launch event, the university's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charlie Jeffery, said: "This is a major milestone for the University of York and a significant step forward for our region. We are thrilled to be partnering with Alibaba to create a hub that will drive innovation and entrepreneurship in the north of England."
The hub will provide a range of facilities and resources to support start-ups and entrepreneurs, including office space, meeting rooms, and access to Alibaba's global network of suppliers and partners.
Alibaba's UK General Manager, Maggie Wu, added: "We are excited to be partnering with the University of York to create this innovation hub. We believe that this partnership will help to drive innovation and entrepreneurship in the region and provide opportunities for entrepreneurs and start-ups to access our global network of suppliers and partners."
