This is my formal apology to Battlefield 6's most misunderstood class

Among all Battlefield 6 classes, Recon is the one most in need of a PR rescue. The popular image of a sniper isn't flattering: they often linger far behind the front line, obsessed with distant headshots while real objectives unfold elsewhere.

Typically, Recon players group up on the highest hilltop rather than moving toward the fight. Their collective scope glare attracts tank gunners, who eliminate them almost as an afterthought.

I’ve usually played Support, so my urge to rush objectives and revive allies clashes directly with the habits of most Recon players. Over time, this reputation even soured my own perception of the class. Though I enjoy sniping in shooters, picking Recon felt like wearing a badge that said I only cared about kills.

Learning to appreciate Recon

After spending real time with the class in both Redsec and Battlefield 6’s attack and defend modes, my opinion changed. Recon may lack the versatile equipment that makes Support so powerful, yet a skilled sniper can completely shift the tide of a match when timing and positioning align.

“I'm sorry, I wasn't really familiar with your game.”

Still, no mercy for HQ campers

Even with my newfound respect, I’m not excusing those who spend entire matches camped in HQ waiting for longshots. Good Recon players play smart and support the team — not just their kill count.

Author’s summary: Recon players in Battlefield 6 are often misunderstood; while poor teamwork hurts their image, a skilled sniper can decisively influence the battle.
