IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi addressed attendees at the opening of the World Nuclear Exhibition in Paris, focusing on the broad impact of nuclear technology in energy, food security, and healthcare.
The exhibition, held from 4 to 6 November, gathers experts from the civil nuclear sector, showcasing the full nuclear fuel cycle from mining and fuel fabrication to reactor design, waste management, and decommissioning. It also highlights non-electric uses such as water desalination, medicine, agriculture, and space applications.
Roland Lescure, France’s Minister for the Economy, Finance, Industry, Energy, and Digital Sovereignty, emphasized innovation’s critical role. He stated:
“Innovation is at the heart of what you will see in the next three days — and what we will achieve in the next three decades. We must innovate together — in how we finance, govern, build supply chains and public-private partnerships, and in how we attract diverse new talent to shape the future of energy.”
Grossi reaffirmed the importance of cooperation, referencing the momentum following COP28’s milestone, which recognized nuclear energy's essential contribution and set a goal to triple global capacity by 2050:
“Two years after COP28’s historic recognition of nuclear’s indispensable role and the pledge to triple global capacity by 2050, we are seeing clear advancements.”
The event underlined global commitment to advancing nuclear innovations vital for sustainable development and energy security.
