Wolfgang and Andreas Linger first appeared in the Olympic luge competition at the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City. Representing Austria, the brothers finished in 8th place during their debut.
Four years later, at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, the Austrian duo won gold in the luge doubles event. They became the first Austrians to claim this title since the 1964 Innsbruck Games.
At the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, the Linger brothers repeated their success, securing gold once again. This achievement made them only the second team ever to win two consecutive Olympic luge doubles titles.
During the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, the brothers aimed to make history by winning a record third consecutive luge doubles gold. Despite delivering strong performances, they finished with silver after their German competitors, Tobias Arlt and Tobias Wendl, excelled.
