I want to begin by expressing my regret over Senator Dolega’s statements and the offensive accusations directed at coalition senators and members. According to Labor, it now seems offensive to drape oneself in the Australian flag and express pride in it.
Senator Dolega criticised some of us for having the audacity to wear the Australian flag and take pride in our nation. How dare you suggest that displaying patriotism is some form of dog whistling?

Australia is a land many wish to call home because of our great nation and one of the most successful migration histories worldwide. We are a proud migrant nation, a multicultural society embracing:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, who have lived here for thousands of years
- Those who arrived decades ago
- Recent arrivals contributing to our vibrant culture
Our multiculturalism is a cornerstone of our success and pride as a nation.
