Extending Bluetooth® LE Audio on Windows 11 with Shared Audio (Preview)

The latest Windows 11 Insider Preview Build (26220.7051) for the Dev and Beta Channels introduces a gradual rollout of a new feature called shared audio (preview). This feature allows audio to be transmitted simultaneously to two separate Bluetooth audio devices, such as headphones, speakers, earbuds, or hearing aids.

Shared audio is based on Bluetooth LE Audio broadcast technology, enabling a supported Windows 11 PC to stream audio to two Bluetooth accessories at once.

Current Support and Usage

As of the October 31 update, this preview feature is only available on specific Copilot+ PCs, with plans to expand support to additional devices for the wider audience later.

Practical Benefits

How to Use Shared Audio

  1. Pair and connect two compatible Bluetooth LE Audio accessories with your Windows 11 PC.
  2. Activate shared audio by selecting the “Shared audio (preview)” tile in Quick Settings.
  3. To stop sharing, press the “Stop sharing” button.
"As Insiders, you have the first opportunity to explore this feature and provide feedback before it rolls out more broadly."

Author's Summary: Windows 11's shared audio preview enables simultaneous Bluetooth audio streaming to two devices, enhancing shared experiences and currently supports select Copilot+ PCs.
