Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported that the Toronto Maple Leafs are resisting a request from veteran forward David Kampf regarding his NHL career.
At the start of the season, GM Brad Treliving aimed to create roster flexibility. With the promising performance of Easton Cowan and many bottom-six forwards available, it became necessary to send someone down. Consequently, David Kampf, 30, with a $2.4 million cap hit (of which $1.15 million was counted), was assigned to the Toronto Marlies.
After playing in four of the Marlies' first seven games, Kampf chose to take a leave of absence. He also declined to join the team during their recent trip to Chicago.
