Chasing a target of 186, Abhishek Sharma gave India a solid start with 25 runs off 16 balls before being dismissed by Nathan Ellis, who also removed vice-captain Shubman Gill for 15. Captain Suryakumar Yadav looked promising but was caught by Marcus Stoinis for 24.
Tilak Varma and Axar Patel contributed 17 and 29 respectively before Ellis and Xavier Bartlett dismissed them. Sundar remained steady and ensured India reached the target comfortably.
Earlier, Australia posted 186 for six, powered by Tim David’s explosive 74 off 38 balls. His innings included five sixes, four of which came straight down the ground, and a fierce hit over cover off Axar Patel. Later, Marcus Stoinis added a vital 64 off 39 to lift Australia to a competitive total.
India opted to bowl first in cool, breezy conditions and started strongly through Arshdeep Singh. On his return to the side, he produced a sharp two-over spell, dismissing Travis Head and Josh Inglis to leave Australia struggling at 14 for two.
