After 20 years as Melbourne’s trusted weather presenter, Livinia Nixon is stepping away from her nightly forecasts, reflecting on a remarkable career and new plans with the Nine Network.
For many Melbourne families, the evening news wasn’t complete without Nixon delivering the weather. Now, she is set to sign off from her weeknight role, closing an important chapter with Nine.
Her decision isn’t due to fatigue or loss of passion but a desire to spend more time with family. At 50, Nixon wants to support her children, especially her youngest, Ted, as he starts high school alongside his older brother Henry.
“I’ve been on air for more of my life than I’ve not,” she joked, highlighting how closely her life and career are connected.
Nixon’s journey with Nine began in 1997 when she was just 22. Joining the iconic ‘Hey Hey, It’s Saturday,’ she quickly became a familiar face on TV, surprising those who knew her as a shy schoolgirl.
Her start in television was no accident. Childhood appearances in commercials and encouragement from a neighbor through casting agency Artist Services helped launch her career.
Mentors such as Steve Vizard and Glenn Robbins, along with the Nine team, were instrumental in supporting her early growth in the industry.
Livinia Nixon ends her 20-year tenure as Melbourne’s weather presenter to embrace family life and fresh opportunities, marking a heartfelt farewell to Nine Network.
