Clint Stanaway, former reporter for the Today show and Weekend Today host, has shared how working in breakfast television affected his health. After 25 years at Channel Nine, the 42-year-old announced his departure in September, surprising many viewers.
Speaking on the Big Bros podcast, Clint detailed how the demands of his high-profile role, combined with radio duties, negatively impacted his wellbeing. He said:
"Physically, first and foremost, I was just getting sick a lot, pushing the envelope. I had really bad gut issues, I was getting headaches, I wasn’t sleeping well, which is ironic, because I was so tired, but I just couldn’t sleep."
He also revealed the situation worsened, leading to alarming chest pains and anxiety.
"It was scary. I was getting chest issues, like I had chest pain and a bit of anxiety as well."
Clint admitted that by the end of his workdays, exhaustion left him with little energy for anything else:
"When I finished work, I was going home because I was exhausted. I’d sit on the couch, go to bed."
He described this lifestyle as "burning the candle at both ends," which severely limited his personal time.
Clint Stanaway’s experience highlights the significant physical and mental strain caused by demanding roles in breakfast television and radio.
