The Federal Government has introduced a N250 billion financing window aimed at supporting smallholder farmers to increase food production in Nigeria. This fund complements the ongoing N1.5 trillion recapitalisation of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA).
Speaking at the 47th National Council on Agriculture and Food Security (NCAFS) held in Kaduna, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Abubakar Kyari outlined key reforms and programs designed to accelerate the country’s journey towards food sovereignty and agricultural transformation.
The minister emphasized government efforts to make farm inputs more affordable and accessible, while providing gender-responsive extension services. Additionally, farmers will have improved access to credit, inputs, and training programs focused on climate-smart farming techniques and mechanisation.
