After two decades as Melbourne's beloved weather presenter, Livinia Nixon has announced she will step down from her position on 9News Melbourne. She began with the Nine Network in 1997 and took on the weather presenter role in 2004.
Livinia has decided to focus more on her family, as her sons are entering their senior years of schooling. Her final weather broadcast will be on Tuesday, 18 November.
Though stepping back from weather presenting, Livinia will remain a valued part of the Nine family. She will continue her work on popular travel programs Getaway and Postcards.
“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them. It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.
Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me. When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’
I’m thrilled to be staying with Nine and will be continuing my roles on Getaway and Postcards.”
Livinia Nixon ends her 20-year run as 9News Melbourne weather presenter to support her family, while continuing her role on Nine's travel shows.
