Kazakhstan to Join Abraham Accords, Trump Says

WASHINGTON – On November 6, US President Donald Trump announced that Kazakhstan will join the Abraham Accords, a framework established to normalize relations between Israel and Muslim-majority nations.

President Trump stated that he had spoken with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev prior to the announcement.

“We will soon announce a signing ceremony to make it official, and there are many more countries trying to join this club of strength,” wrote President Trump on Truth Social.

According to the Kazakh government, the negotiations are at their final stage. The official statement noted:

“Our anticipated accession to the Abraham Accords represents a natural and logical continuation of Kazakhstan’s foreign policy course – grounded in dialogue, mutual respect, and regional stability.”

Kazakhstan already maintains full diplomatic and economic relations with Israel, suggesting that the move would be largely symbolic. However, Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized on November 6 that the decision carries deeper meaning.

“It’s an enhanced relationship beyond just diplomatic relations,” he said.

Background on the Abraham Accords

The original accords, brokered during President Trump’s first term, saw four Arab states normalize relations with Israel. The expansion effort aims to strengthen ties between Israel and additional Muslim-majority nations.
